Dear Menifee Union School District Families,

The purpose of this letter is to share information regarding a situation that occurred today at Southshore Elementary School.

At approximately 9:15 am, a female in her early teens approached the front office door and was met outside by the school administration. The young lady was visibly distraught and appeared to be under the influence. In the context of nationwide concerns stemming from Tik Tok, and out of an abundance of caution, the school administration decided to lockdown the school and contacted the Menifee Police Department.

The Police Department searched the school, the playground, and surrounding community and lifted the lockdown before 10:00 am. Principal Heeren then visited each classroom to thank the students for their responsible behavior and acknowledged staff for their support.

The Menifee Union School District would like to express our appreciation for our Southshore staff and administration and the Menifee Police Department for continuing to ensure the safety and well-being of our students.
